Kaine: Trump has ‘personal Mount Rushmore’ of dictators

Democrat Tim Kaine accused Donald Trump of idolizing foreign dictators at Tuesday night’s vice presidential debate, saying the GOP nominee has his own “personal Mount Rushmore” of the world’s worst actors.

{mosads}Among those Kaine accused Trump of admiring are Russian President Vladmir Putin, former Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un and deposed Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

Trump’s running mate, Mike Pence, shook his head incredulously as Kaine ticked through the list, at one point interjecting: “Come on!”

When the question of national security was thrown to Pence, he slammed Kaine for bringing pre-packaged zingers to the debate.

“Did you work on that one a long time?” Pence asked. “That one had a lot of creative lines in it.”

Kaine also said Trump “can’t start a Twitter war with Miss Universe without shooting himself in the foot.”

Both VP contenders were asked if the world had become more safe from the threat of terror in the past eight years, and Kaine’s response is sure to be used by Republicans against the Democratic ticket.

“The terror threat has decreased in some ways because Osama bin Laden is dead. The terror threat has decreased in some ways because the Iranian nuclear weapons program has been stopped. The terrorist threat to the U.S. has been decreased in some ways because there are not 175,000 peoples in a dangerous part of the world, there’s only 15,000 in other parts of the world that are challenging.”

Pence responded, dinging Clinton’s time at the State Department and knocking the current administration: “After traveling millions of miles as our secretary of State, after being the architect of this administration’s foreign policy, America is less safe than it was the day Barack Obama became president. It’s been a lack of leadership.”
