A Republican senator from Nebraska says she’ll vote for Donald Trump, just days after calling on him to resign as her party’s presidential nominee.
On Tuesday, Sen. Deb Fischer told a Nebraska radio station she plans to vote for Trump and his running mate, Mike Pence.
{mosads}“I put out a statement … with regard to Mr. Trump’s comments,” she said. “I felt they were disgusting. I felt they were unacceptable and I never said I was not voting for our Republican ticket.”
On Saturday, a day after a tape was leaked of Trump making vulgar comments about women in 2005, she struck a different tone.
“The comments made by Mr. Trump were disgusting and totally unacceptable under any circumstance. I would be wise for him to step aside and allow Mike Pence to serve as our party’s nominee,” she said, according to the Omaha World-Herald.
But Fischer said Tuesday she respects Trump’s decision to not quit the race.
“He decided he would not step aside. I respect his decision,” she said. “I support the Republican ticket and it’s a Trump-Pence ticket.”
