Pence: ‘There’s something missing in the polling’

GOP vice presidential nominee Mike Pence on Friday criticized polls showing Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton with a widening lead and an “avalanche of negative media coverage” on his running mate, Donald Trump.

{mosads}”I honestly think that there is something missing in the polling these days,” Pence said in an interview with Fox & Friends.

“Well it’s just I think Donald Trump has made a connection to the frustrations and the aspirations of everyday Americans like no one in my lifetime since Ronald Reagan. When you see against this avalanche … of negative media coverage that goes chasing after every potential negative story about Donald Trump every day, and still you see tens of thousands of people coming out and rallying, there is a determination out there across the country to change the direction of this nation.”

Pence also defended his running mate against allegations of sexual misconduct on Friday morning, telling CBS News the claims were unsubstantiated.

He then proceeded to attack Michelle Obama’s criticism of Trump, stating that he doesn’t get her forceful condemnation on Thursday.

“I don’t understand the basis of her claim,” Pence said in response to the first lady’s denunciation of Trump’s lewd conversation about women caught on a recently released tape from 2005.

“What he’s made it clear is that was talk, regrettable talk on his part, but that there were no actions, and that he has categorically denied these latest unsubstantiated allegations.”
