Poll: Trump up 12 points in Texas

Donald Trump has opened up a double-digit lead over Hillary Clinton in Texas, according to a new KTVT CBS 11 Dixie Strategies poll release Tuesday.

{mosads}The GOP presidential nominee is favored by 52 percent of likely voters in Texas, while his Democratic rival is backed by 39 percent. Early last month, the same poll had Clinton 7 points behind Trump.

The recent poll finds Trump leading Clinton among both Texan men, 54 percent to 35 percent, and women, 49 percent to 43 percent.

Trump has the support of 89 percent of Republicans in the state, and Clinton has the support of 90 percent of Democrats.

Trump is viewed either very or somewhat favorably by 52 percent of likely voters and very or somewhat unfavorably by 45 percent, according to the poll.

Clinton is viewed very or somewhat favorably by just 39 percent of likely voters in the state. She is viewed unfavorably by 58 percent.

The poll was conducted from Oct. 27 to 29 among 980 likely Texas voters. The margin of error is 3.13 percentage points.

According to the RealClearPolitics average of Texas polls, Trump has a 7.6-point lead over his Democratic rival, 47.3 percent to 39.7 percent.
