Hillary Clinton holds a slight lead over Donald Trump among independent voters, according to a Bloomberg poll released early Wednesday.
{mosads}Thirty-nine percent of independents would support the Democratic nominee if the election were held today, while 35 percent back Trump, Clinton’s Republican rival, in a two-way race.
In a four-way matchup, Clinton takes 30 percent to Trump’s 27 percent. Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson gets 19 percent, while Green Party nominee Jill Stein has 8 percent. Sixteen percent are undecided.
Forty-seven percent of independent voters say the most recent controversy surrounding Clinton’s use of a private email server will not affect their vote. A quarter of independents said the news is more likely to make them vote for Trump.
More than half of independents, 56 percent, said they believe Clinton will be president, while 19 percent believe it will be Trump.
The national poll of 601 likely independent voters was conducted from Oct. 28 to 31. It has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.
