Trump to spend election night in Manhattan hotel ballroom
Donald Trump will spend the night of the election in a hotel ballroom in Manhattan, his campaign said in a statement.
{mosads}Trump, the Republican nominee for president, will have his event on the night of the election at the New York Hilton Midtown. It is invitation-only.
The ballroom is a few blocks from Trump Tower — where the GOP nominee held his campaign launch last year.
A person familiar with the plans told The Washington Post Trump is “superstitious” and doesn’t want to plan a large celebration.
Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton will also be spending the night in Manhattan with a gathering at the Jacob K. Javits Center.
The venue notably has a glass ceiling, which goes with Clinton’s theme that becoming the U.S.’s first female president would shatter the “highest and hardest glass ceiling.”
Clinton’s campaign reportedly planned a fireworks display to go off over the Hudson River on election night. Sources told the New York Post the display will last for two minutes and could start around 9:30 p.m.
