Poll: Clinton leads Trump by 3 points nationally
Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump by 3 points nationally, according to a new poll released less than a week before Election Day.
Clinton leads Trump 45-42 percent in the final New York Times/CBS News poll before the Nov. 8 election.
{mosads}Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson has 5 percent support while Green Party candidate Jill Stein has 4 percent.
Clinton has a 14-point lead over her Republican rival among women, while Trump has an 11-point lead among men, according to the poll.
Clinton has the support of 48 percent of whites with college degrees while Trump is backed by 41 percent. However, 55 percent of white voters without college degrees support Trump, compared to 30 percent for Clinton.
A little more than six in 10 Trump supporters, 63 percent, say they will accept the results as legitimate if Trump does not win, compared to 86 percent of Clinton backers who say they’ll accept the results if she does not win.
More than a quarter of Trump supporters, 27 percent, say they will probably not accept the outcome if Clinton wins, and 38 percent say they have little or no confidence that votes will be counted properly.
The poll of 1,333 registered voters was conducted Oct. 28 to Nov. 1 via landlines and cellphones with an overall margin of error of 3 points.
