Court reinstates Ariz. ban on early voting ballot collection

The Supreme Court on Saturday reinstated an Arizona law banning the collection of early-voting ballots, according to the Associated Press.

{mosads}The law, which had been overturned by a lower court, makes it a felony for outside groups to collect and submit early-voting ballots.

The practice has often been used in minority neighborhoods, and Democrats argued that the law unfairly targeted voters of color.

The 9th U.S. Court of Appeals blocked the law Friday, prompting an emergency appeal by the state of Arizona.

The ruling comes less than three days before Election Day and could hurt Hillary Clinton’s chances in a state that has long been a GOP stronghold but has become a battleground this year.

The RealClearPolitics polling index shows Donald Trump leading by five points in Arizona.
