Melania Trump defended the character of her husband Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump while on the campaign trail Saturday.
“Donald is a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He’s strong, he’s determined, bold and decisive. He’s also compassionate, thoughtful, giving and loving,” she said during a campaign stop in North Carolina.
{mosads}”Donald cares so deeply about this country he could no longer sit by and allow American jobs to be lost and Americans to become less and less safe. Once given the opportunity, Donald will make America great again,” Trump added.
Trump’s defense of her husband comes one day after the Wall Street Journal reported that a tabloid newspaper withheld a story about the GOP presidential nominee allegedly having an affair with a former Playmate in 2006, a year after marrying Melania.
Melania Trump shared a kiss with her husband on stage while introducing the businessman Saturday at the rally.
“I enjoyed speaking to all of you in Pennsylvania so much, I decided to do it again,” she told the audience in North Carolina.
She spoke at a rally in Berwyn, Pa., Thursday afternoon, promising to make cyberbullying one of her key initiatives should she become the nation’s next First Lady.
“And the media was so nice to me after. I just had to come back,” she said Saturday.
Her appearance on the campaign trail Saturday came a day after news emerged that she was compensated for 10 modeling jobs in 1996 prior to acquiring a legal work permit in the U.S.
The Associated Press reported that between Sept. 10 and Oct. 15, 1996, she was paid for modeling jobs totaling $20,056 before she had obtained an H-1B work visa. She arrived in the U.S. in August of that year.
Donald Trump has taken a hardline stance against illegal immigration during his campaign, arguing that those working in the U.S. illegally are taking away work from U.S. citizens.
