Poll: Clinton, Trump in tight race in Ohio

Hillary Clinton has a 1-point lead over Donald Trump in Ohio, according to a new Columbus Dispatch poll.

{mosads}Clinton is favored by 48 percent of voters in the Buckeye State, and Trump is backed by 47 percent.

The Democratic nominee also has a 10-point advantage among those in the state who said they have already voted.

The poll finds one-third of those voting for Clinton say they are mainly voting against Trump, the Republican nominee.

Among Trump supporters, 40 percent say they are mainly trying to prevent a Clinton presidency.

In the Senate race, incumbent Sen. Rob Portman (R) leads former Gov. Ted Strickland (D), 58 percent to 37 percent.

The poll was conducted from Oct. 27 to Nov. 5 among 1,151 registered Ohio voters. The margin of error is 2.9 percentage points.

According to the RealClearPolitics average of polls in Ohio, Trump holds a 1.1-point lead over his Democratic rival, 44.8 percent to 43.7 percent.

FiveThirtyEight predicts Clinton has a 32.7 percent chance of winning Ohio’s electoral votes, and Trump has a 67.3 percent chance.
