Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager on Monday defended the Democratic presidential nominee after she made no mention during her Sunday rallies of the FBI’s latest announcement regarding her private email server.
{mosads}”I think the American people have heard enough about this email matter,” Robby Mook said on CNN’s “New Day.”
“We’re focused on turning out our supporters. That ground game that we worked so hard to build is really bearing fruit.”
Mook touted the campaign’s ground game, noting one-third of the Hispanic and Asian voters the campaign has turned out in Florida didn’t take part in the 2012 or 2014 elections.
“The turnout among Asian and Hispanic voters in North Carolina and Florida has doubled now,” he said.
“We’re really proud of what we’re seeing out there, proud that our supporters are turning out in such huge numbers and we’re focused on them and making our case directly to the voters.”
FBI Director James Comey announced on Sunday that the bureau had not changed its July conclusion regarding Clinton’s use of a private server while secretary of State, when the FBI said it would not recommend criminal charges against Clinton.
Sunday’s announcement came after Comey last month sent a letter to lawmakers telling them that agents would be reviewing newly discovered emails “pertinent” to its investigation into Clinton’s email server and whether she had mishandled classified information.
In the letter Comey sent Sunday, he said the FBI investigative team had been “working around the clock” to review the newly discovered emails.
During her rallies after the announcement, Clinton notably made no mention of the update in the FBI’s email review. Instead, she struck a more positive tone and emphasized the need for unity and positivity.
