Clinton: ‘I have some work to do to bring the country together’
Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton on Monday appeared confident of victory in the election, talking of the work she said needs to be done to unify the country after votes are cast.
{mosads}”I think I have some work to do to bring the country together,” Clinton said Monday, speaking to reporters outside of her plane.
“I really do want to be the president for everybody.”
She said she hopes to be a president both for those who voted for her and those who voted against her.
“Because I think that these splits, these divides that have been not only exposed but exacerbated by the campaign on the other side are ones that we really do have to bring the country together,” Clinton said.
Clinton said she loves the country and believes in its people.
“We have a big agenda ahead of us,” Clinton said.
“But I’m excited. I think we will get a lot done, and I do think we will bring the country together.”
When asked if she had any concerns going into Election Day, the Democratic nominee said her campaign is going to “work until the last vote is counted.”
“We’re on a good track,” Clinton said as she walked away.
Clinton now has a 2.7-point lead over her Republican rival in the RealClearPolitics average of polls.
In recent days, many polls have shown a tightening race.
With only one day left before the election, both Clinton and Republican nominee Donald Trump are on the campaign trail making their final pitches to voters.
