David Duke: ‘God bless WikiLeaks’
Former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke on Wednesday praised WikiLeaks following Donald Trump’s surprise White House win.
“God bless WikiLeaks,” he tweeted alongside a photo of Julian Assange, the transparency website’s founder.
{mosads}“Julian Assange is a hero,” the former GOP Louisiana Senate candidate added. “America owes this man one thing – freedom. Thank you sir, thank you.”
Trump stunned the world Tuesday by defeating Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton for the presidency.
Duke, meanwhile, failed to qualify for Louisiana’s Senate runoff in December after failing to reach the 50 percent qualifying threshold.
WikiLeaks repeatedly published hacked Democratic National Committee (DNC) emails during the 2016 race showing the party favoring Clinton over her primary rival, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).
Trump repeatedly seized on the revelations to accuse Clinton and Democrats of treating the independent Vermont senator unfairly.
The site also published emails stolen from Clinton’s campaign chairman, John Podesta.
WikiLeaks capped off Tuesday’s election results by seemingly mocking Democrats for nominating Clinton for the presidency.
“By biasing its internal electoral market the DNC selected the less competitive candidate defeating the purpose of running a primary,” its official account tweeted near midnight.
