Fundraising wrap-up: McCaskill, Dold post big quarters

• Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) raised $1.3 million during a period that included the state’s GOP delegate caucuses. If Hatch survives the party convention, which it looks like he will, he’ll have a huge warchest for his primary.

• Former Rep. Mark Neumann (R-Wis.) raised $650,000 in the quarter, and did not release his total cash on hand. He has the backing of some D.C.-based conservative groups but is facing a tough four-way primary against former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson (R), state Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald (R) and big-spending businessman Eric Hovde (R), who has already spent close to a half-million dollars on ads since he jumped in a few weeks ago.

• New Hampshire Democrat Ann McLane Kuster raised $350,000 and has more than $1 million in the bank for her run against Rep. Charlie Bass (R-N.H.). She has outraised Bass in previous quarters, although he hasn’t released this quarter’s numbers yet.

• Former Orlando Police Chief Val Demings raised $330,000 and has nearly $500,000 cash on hand. She’s running against Rep. Dan Webster (R-Fla.) in a GOP-leaning district.

• Businessman Paul Hirschbiel raised $325,000 and has $670,000 in the bank for his race against Rep. Scott Rigell (R-Va.). Both are wealthy and are likely to partly self-fund their campaigns in the Republican-leaning Virgina Beach-based district.

• California State Sen. Tony Strickland (R) raised a strong $770,000 for the open swing district in southern California.

• Businessman Jay Chen (D) raised $300,000 in two months and has $247,000 cash on hand for his uphill battle against Rep. Ed Royce (R-Calif.) in a Republican-leaning district.

• Democrat Michelle Lujan-Grisham raised $200,000 and has almost $350,000 for her primary against former Albuquerque Mayor Marty Chavez (D) and liberal favorite Eric Griego (D) in the slightly Democratic-leaning district. She has the backing of the pro-abortion-rights group EMILY’s List, but Chavez is the clear front-runner.
