Elizabeth Warren leaves financial bureau, setting up possible Senate bid
{mosads}Her move back to Harvard sets up the possibility that Warren might enter the race for Senate in a field that so far lacks any compelling Democratic candidate.
Democrats have recently met with Warren about the possibility of challenging Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) in 2012.
Rep. Barney Frank (Mass.), the top Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee, had said he’d rather see Warren stay in Washington to head the CFPB.
Brown’s built a campaign warchest to fend off what’s expected to be a tough Democratic challenge; he won the race to succeed the late Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) in a January 2010 special election.
Whether Warren enters the race is yet to be seen. Several Democrats have already entered the primary, and Rep. Mike Capuano (D-Mass.) has said he’s considering the possibility.
