Cheney’s first ad emphasizes her Wyoming roots

Wyoming Senate candidate Liz Cheney’s (R) first campaign ad emphasizes her family’s roots in Wyoming.

The minute-long biographical spot is meant to answer critics who see her as a carpetbagger with little connection to Wyoming.

{mosads}”Our daughter Grace is 13, and we just can’t keep her off a horse. It’s little wonder why. She and her four siblings are fifth-generation Wyomingites,” Cheney says in the ad.

“Twenty years ago, Phil and I were married here in Wyoming, and today we’re raising our kids here on the same Wyoming values I grew up with,” she continues, before touting the generations of Cheneys that came before her in the state.

Cheney, who is running against Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.), moved back to Wyoming from Virginia less than two years ago. The ad seeks to reestablish her roots in the state, where her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney (R), served as a congressman.

A recent poll released from an outside group backing Enzi found him with a lead of more than 50 points.
