Hagan tops $2M for fourth quarter

Sen. Kay Hagan (D-N.C.) raised more than $2 million in the last three months of 2013, an impressive fundraising haul for the top GOP target.

Hagan now has $6.8 million in the bank for what could be a tough reelection campaign.

“Kay’s strong fundraising quarter demonstrates the broad base of support and grassroots enthusiasm behind her campaign,” said Hagan Campaign Manager Preston Elliott in a release.

“These resources will ensure the Kay’s message about her strong track record of bipartisan results can reach voters all across North Carolina and carry the campaign to victory this year.”

{mosads}Hagan is a top Republican target, and polls show her running even with a number of her GOP opponents in the slightly Republican-leaning state.

But her opponents are facing off in what’s shaping up to be a hotly contested primary battle. North Carolina House Speaker Thom Tillis (R), the establishment favorite and front-runner, is facing Baptist Minister Mark Harris (R), who recently was endorsed by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R), and Tea Party favorite Greg Brannon (R), who is backed by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.).

None of the Republicans have announced their fourth-quarter fundraising yet. Tillis had $800,000 cash on hand as of the end of September, outpacing the GOP field.
