Dem super-PAC defends Braley on ObamaCare

Senate Majority PAC is launching an ad defending Democratic Rep. Bruce Braley, the party’s expected nominee for Senate in Iowa, on ObamaCare.

The ad comes as the conservative Americans for Prosperity is spending $500,000 in the state to attack Braley on the same subject. Senate Majority PAC is spending about half that, $225,000, to air the ad through Feb. 6.

{mosads}In the super-PAC’s ad, a narrator describes the attack ads as “billionaires playing politics with healthcare.”

“The truth? Bruce Braley knows we need to fix the health care law, make it work for Iowa and hold insurance companies accountable,” the narrator says.

“He knows we can’t go back to letting insurance companies deny coverage for pre-existing conditions and kick people off their coverage when they get sick.”

The Koch brothers-backed Americans for Prosperity has spent more than $20 million since August hammering Democratic incumbents and candidates on the law, which Republicans see as a political liability heading into November.

But Democrats believe highlighting issues with the health care industry before the reform was passed, as well as emphasizing their commitment to improving the law, will help them neutralize Republican attacks.
