Pro-McConnell super-PAC hits Grimes on coal, Obama

A super-PAC backing Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is out with a new ad attacking Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes (D) for backing President Obama’s “anti-coal agenda.”

{mosads}”ObamaCare. The War on Coal. That’s Obama’s agenda. And Alison Grimes supports Obama,” the ad’s narrator says before a clip of Grimes being asked if she supports the Democratic Party platform and agreeing that she does.

“After all the damage he did, Grimes embraced Obama’s platform and his re-election. Now his lieutenants are financing her campaign because Obama needs another vote in the Senate and with Alison Grimes, that’s what he’ll get,” the ad concludes.

McConnell and Grimes are locked in a tight race, according to polls. The Kentucky Republican has had to keep one eye on his primary opponent, Matt Bevin and hasn’t been able to turn his attention squarely to Grimes. The super-PAC’s $500,000 ad buy helps provide cover while he does so.
