Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) is getting a primary boost from two big names: Former Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel (R), one of his former opponents, and former University of Georgia running back Herschel Walker.
{mosads}Handel will endorse Kingston over businessman David Perdue (R), according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, continuing her ongoing feud with Perdue. The third-place finisher in the primary had taken exception to Perdue’s attacks on her for not being a college graduate.
Walker, a Heisman Trophy winner who went on to star in the National Football League, is appearing in an ad for the Chamber of Commerce, which backs Kingston.
“I care deeply about Georgia’s future. That’s why I want my friend, Jack Kingston, carrying the ball for us in Washington,” Walker says in the ad.
Kingston and Perdue are facing off in Georgia’s primary runoff, which will be held in July.
