Sen. Kay Hagan (D-N.C.) is returning to the airwaves, seeking to buck up her image with an ad touting her work across the aisle.
{mosads}”One of the things I love about North Carolina is that unless you’re talking basketball you don’t have to pick a team. That’s how I get results for folks here at home,” Hagan says in the ad.
“Republican or Democrat, if an idea works for middle-class families I am all for it. I approve this message because I was so proud when the nonpartisan National Journal ranked me the most moderate senator. Not too far left, not too far right, just like North Carolina,” she continues.
Hagan has held a lead over North Carolina Assembly Speaker Thom Tillis (R) in recent public and private polls, but those surveys show that she’s fairly unpopular in the state after months of attack ads by outside groups.
Now Hagan is looking to improve her image, leveraging a huge cash advantage she has on Tillis in order to boost her positive numbers with independent voters in the Republican-leaning state.
