Hollywood power players are stepping out to help Kentucky Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes (D) and Georgia Senate candidate Michelle Nunn (D), according to The Hollywood Reporter.
{mosads}Both women have fundraisers scheduled this month with some big names.
Grimes will be back in town on Sept. 18 for a fundraiser with DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, who’s already helped raise $1 million for her campaign. Donors to the event include director James Cameron, according to the Reporter, as well as Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment chief Diane Nelson and Veronica Mars director Nick Marck.
Nunn will be in Los Angeles on Tuesday at a fundraiser hosted by media mogul Michael Kong and his wife, designer Stacy Twilley.
The two candidates represent Democrats’ best chance of picking up seats this cycle, and are running uphill races in Republican-leaning states. Grimes has trailed Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) in most recent polling, while Democrats admit Nunn is a bit behind businessman David Perdue (R) in Georgia.
