Senate Democrats borrow $10M

The Democratic and Republican Senatorial Campaign committees transferred millions from the national party committees this month as they head into the final stretch of the midterms.

{mosads}The DSCC transferred $1.5 million from the Democratic National Committee, while the NRSC received $4 million from the Republican National Committee.

With that $4 million transfer, the NRSC actually brought in more money than Democrats, despite again raising less for the first two weeks of October. The NRSC raised $6.1 million during that period, while the DSCC raised $6.5 million. The GOP committee had $10 million cash on hand as of Oct. 15, while the DSCC had $7.8 million.

The DSCC, however, took out a $10 million loan to support its efforts in the final two weeks of the cycle. 

Democrats have spent millions this month on unexpected opportunities in red states like Kansas and South Dakota. They bought advertising in Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Colorado at the beginning of the month — all while expanding investments in their aggressive ground operation.

“Democrats are in a strong position to hold the majority and we are excited about what’s happening across the country,” said DSCC Executive Director Guy Cecil.

“Republicans like Joni Ernst, Cory Gardner, and Thom Tillis will do anything they can to enact their anti-middle class agenda that benefits special interest billionaires like the Kochs,” he said. “Democrats are running stronger, smarter campaigns with better candidates who have the resources they need to win.”
