Palin stumps with Cassidy in La.

Conservative headliner Sarah Palin gave a Facebook shout-out to “North Louisiana” on Sunday for making her “feel right at home” during a brief trip to stump for GOP Senate hopeful Rep. Bill Cassidy.

{mosads}Palin posted several pictures of the Saturday afternoon rally in Monroe – where she added her Tea Party chits to Cassidy ahead of the runoff with incumbent Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) on Dec. 6th.

“The status quo has got to go; Louisiana deserves the best, and Dr. Bill Cassidy is the best candidate for this great state! It’s so encouraging to see concerned Americans all across the country rally for the good doctor – including Louisiana’s own Duck Commander, Phil Robertson!,” the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee wrote.

Palin originally endorsed Tea Party candidate Rob Maness in the general election; Maness only won 13.8 percent of the vote on election night.

Cassidy received 41 percent of the vote on Nov. 4th, to Landrieu’s 42.1. But in Louisiana a candidate must win more than 50 percent of the vote to avoid a runoff.

Maness participated in the rally on Saturday night for Cassidy; an act that earned Palin’s admiration.

“Never been prouder of Col. Rob Maness, a man of great character and commitment to serving our country. … (With the Colonel’s bright future in public service, one can envision a future Cassidy/Maness team fighting for conservative principles in Washington.)”

With less than three weeks until voters decide the final Senate race, Republicans have dispatched dozens of staffers to the Pelican State to add weight to Cassidy’s bid.

Though Democrats have not deployed a similar ground-team, Landrieu was able to convince Democratic Senate leaders to hold a vote on construction of the Keystone XL pipeline – an issue that factored into the general election.

The House approved an identical measure on Friday, co-sponsored by Cassidy.

Landrieu has overcome two previous runoffs to win her Senate seat.
