Thad Cochran’s wife dies

The wife of Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) died Friday in a hospice facility, according to The Associated Press. She was 73.

Rose Clayton Cochran was thrust in the spotlight during the Mississippi GOP Senate primary earlier this year, after a conservative blogger allegedly took photos of her bedridden photos and posted them online.

{mosads}”Senator Cochran and his family extend their gratitude to those who cared for Mrs. Cochran during her extended illness,”  Cochran’s spokesman Chris Gallegos said in a statement.

Rose, who had a long battle with dementia, has spent the past 13 years in a nursing home in Mississippi

The Cochrans were married in 1964 and have two children and three grandchildren.
