Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Calif.) is considering a Senate run should Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) decide to retire before 2016.
{mosads}”We’ve been asked to look at it, and it never hurts to look,” she told the Orange County Register. “I enjoy my current job representing the people of the 46th Congressional District, but nothing is off the table.”
There has been growing speculation that Boxer, 74, might retire at the end of her term.
Sanchez joins a number of other Democrats said to be interested in a Senate run at some point, whether it’s for Boxer’s seat or for Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s (D-Calif.) if she retires in 2018.
Other Democrats are said to be interested as well, chief among them California Lieutenant Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and California Attorney General Kamala Harris (D).
