Senate Dems round out campaign team

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) has announced two new senior staff hires as it ramps up for the 2016 campaign cycle.

{mosads}Simone Ward will be the DSCC’s political director. Ward most recently managed Natalie Tennant’s West Virginia Senate campaign, and before that worked for the Democratic National Committee and Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.).

The DSCC has also brought on Sadie Weiner, most recently Sen. Kay Hagan’s (D-N.C.) campaign communications director during her hard-fought loss, as national press secretary. Weiner has worked with many of the DSCC’s other senior staff before — Preston Elliott, who ran Hagan’s campaign, is aboard as deputy executive director, and she worked with Justin Barasky, the DSCC’s communications director, on Sen. Sherrod Brown’s (D-Ohio) 2012 reelection campaign.

“Simone and Sadie bring a wealth of knowledge in campaigns and elections to their roles, and they will be instrumental over the next two years as we seek to regain the majority in 2016,” said DSCC Chairman Jon Tester (D-Mont.). “I’m thrilled that these two talented individuals are on board to help round out our team’s senior staff that already boasts the top talent from throughout the country.”
