Toomey ad blasts McGinty for ‘revolving door’

Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) is launching an attack on Democratic challenger Katie McGinty, just days after McGinty won a tightly contested primary.

Toomey’s campaign on Friday released an ad slamming McGinty’s work in the private sector.

{mosads}“In state government, Katie McGinty helped steer millions of tax dollars to benefit corporations,” a narrator says in the ad. “Those corporations later hired her. Some closed their plants, killing Pennsylvania jobs. But McGinty? She still got paid.

“This outrageous scam is known as the revolving door, and McGinty ranked as Pennsylvania’s top abuser. Katie McGinty makes government work for her, not for us.”

The McGinty campaign fired back Friday, slamming Toomey for his “desperate and false attacks.”

“After spending 18 years in Washington, Pat Toomey has a harmful record of leaving Pennsylvania families behind while putting Wall Street and special interests ahead,” Sabrina Singh, a McGinty campaign spokeswoman, said in a statement.

“As a result, Toomey and his special interest friends have kicked off the general election by launching desperate and false attacks against Katie McGinty. Pennsylvania families are rallying behind Katie because they want a Senator who will fight for them, not Wall Street like Pat Toomey.”

Toomey’s Wall Street connections was the theme of a union ad also released on Friday.

McGinty, with an endorsement by President Obama in tow, beat Joe Sestak on Tuesday in the Democratic senatorial primary.
