Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) says he will run for reelection to the Senate.
Asked Wednesday at the Capitol whether he plans to run for reelection, Cruz said, “Yes.”
{mosads}Cruz’s campaign separately said Wednesday he’s officially filed paperwork to run for re-election and restarted his campaign committee.
“I will continue fighting for jobs, freedom and security in the Senate,” Cruz said in a statement. “The conservative movement remains strong and vibrant.”
The Texas Republican is up for reelection in 2018.
Cruz ended his 2016 presidential bid last week after losing the Indiana primary to now-presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. His comments Wednesday as he returned to the Senate launched speculation that he would make another run for the White House in 2020.
Cruz defeated then-Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst (R) in a shocking primary upset in 2012 en route to winning his Senate seat.
