Dem group ties Toomey to Wall Street in new ad

A pro-Democrat group is attacking Sen. Patrick Toomey (R-Pa.) for his Wall Street ties, accusing him of giving tax breaks to millionaires.

The new ad by Senate Majority PAC, released Thursday, rips Toomey’s past career in investment banking.

{mosads}“You scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours. You know what it means. So does Pat Toomey,” the spot’s narrator says.

“Toomey got rich working on Wall Street. Then he got elected, and kept working for Wall Street, voting to let banks continue their risky practices and supporting huge tax breaks for millionaires, but higher taxes on working families. No wonder he’s got millions from Wall Street.”

The video, titled “Meow,” is Senate Majority PAC’s first television ad buy in Pennsylvania, BuzzFeed reported.

The spot is backed by $1.2 million and will air on broadcast and cable in the Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre media markets.

Toomey is locked in a tight reelection race against Democrat Katie McGinty.

A Quinnipiac University Poll released earlier this month had Toomey leading McGinty by a single point, 45 to 44 percent.

Toomey has repeatedly said he does not support a confirmation hearing for Merrick Garland, President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, instead saying the next president should fill the vacancy.

Quinnipiac’s poll found that Toomey’s position makes 30 percent of Pennsylvania voters less likely to support him.
