Grayson not scared of ‘attack puppy’ Rubio
Rep. Alan Grayson, a Florida Democrat running for Senate, sent out a fundraising missive Saturday attacking Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).
{mosads}In the letter, Grayson says reporters are asking if he’s scared of the prospect of Rubio running for reelection.
“Why would I be scared by Marco Rubio, attack puppy against Donald Trump? If anyone is scared, it’s Little Marco himself,” the email reads.
“ ‘No Show’ Rubio against the Most Effective Member of Congress. I like that match-up.”
Rubio told reporters Wednesday that he would reconsider his decision not to run for reelection, which he made when launching his ultimately failed White House bid.
“Obviously, I take very seriously everything that’s going on — not just Orlando, but in our country,” Rubio said, referring to the mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando last weekend. “I enjoy my service here a lot. So I’ll go home later this week, and I’ll have some time with my family, and then if there’s been a change in our status, I’ll be sure to let everyone know.”
“Frankly, it was annoying to me that Marco Rubio ever ran for President, much less the Senate,” Grayson’s fundraising email continues. “I understand that he has good hair. He mouths plausible lies. But what has Marco Rubio done – what has he EVER DONE – for We, the People?”
Rep. Patrick Murphy, another Florida Democrat running for Senate, called out Rubio on Saturday for using the mass shooting to reconsider his political future.
Murphy, who is competing for the Democratic nomination against Grayson, accused Rubio of playing politics with the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.
“What’s appalling is not that he’s the most homophobic senator, but that he’s now using this tragedy, targeting the LGBT community … as an excuse, an epiphany now, that he’s going to run for the Senate,” he said, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
