A top Democratic super-PAC is launching a new Spanish-language ad in Nevada tying Republican Rep. Joe Heck to Donald Trump.
The Senate Majority PAC ad, which will run in Las Vegas and Reno, hits Heck over his votes on immigration and education and draws parallels to Trump, the Republican presidential nominee.
{mosads}Polls show Heck is in a dead heat with former state Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto (D) in the race to replace retiring Sen. Harry Reid (D).
The ad notes Heck voted four times to rescind President Obama’s executive orders halting the deportation of people who immigrated to the country illegally as children and of illegal immigrants who are the parents of citizens and permanent residents.
That record is juxtaposed to a subtitled clip of Trump declaring, “We’re going to have a deportation force.”
The ad also jabs Heck for voting to cut Pell grants, following it up with another shot of Trump pledging to cut the Department of Education.
“On the issues that matter most to us, there is no difference between Joe Heck and Donald Trump,” the narrator concludes in Spanish.
The initial ad buy, which includes digital media, will extend for two weeks, costing $170,000.
Senate Majority PAC announced earlier this week that it had cancelled $3 million worth of ad time in Ohio that had been reserved to help former Gov. Ted Strickland, the Democratic nominee for Senate.
Strickland trails Sen. Rob Portman (R) by more than 7 points, according to a RealClearPolitics polling average.
