Deval Patrick rules out replacing Holder as AG

Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick (D) on Thursday said he’s not interested in replacing Eric Holder as attorney general.

Patrick said the job is an “enormously important one,” but “it’s not one for me right now,” according to the New England Cable News Network.

The comments came at an event in Hudson, Mass. Patrick served as the head of the Department of Justice’s civil rights division under President Bill Clinton and has long been talked about as a possible replacement for Holder. He is a friend of President Obama’s.

Patrick’s public schedule says he is traveling to Washington on Thursday. The reason is unknown.
