Hillary Clinton joked during a campaign stop in Colorado that a leaf design on a latte looked like a marijuana plant.
{mosads}Clinton and Sen. Mark Udall (D-Colo.) took a trip to a coffee shop at Denver’s Union Station on Monday. The barista drew designs with the milk on their lattes. Clinton first marveled at the pig drawn on her latte, then turned to the leaf on Udall’s.
“And look at you, you got like a plant,” she said. “Is that a marijuana plant?”
“That’s exactly what it is,” the barista chimed in. Udall just laughed heartily, along with Clinton.
Colorado has legalized marijuana, making the joke quite topical to Clinton’s surroundings.
She was in the state for a fundraiser for Udall, who is facing a tough reelection race against Republican Rep. Cory Gardner.
Despite the joke, Clinton says she has never smoked marijuana. “I didn’t do it when I was young, I’m not going to start now,” she said at a CNN town hall in June. She took a wait-and-see attitude on legalization.
Former President Bill Clinton famously said he “didn’t inhale” when he tried marijuana.
