Swiss authorities foil alleged ISIS plot

Three Iraqi citizens thought to support the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) have been arrested after allegedly planning an attack in Europe, Swiss federal prosecutors said Friday.

{mosads}In a statement obtained by The Associated Press, prosecutors, who note that the FBI is helping investigate, said the three unnamed Iraqis were arrested in Switzerland in March, but details of the incident were not disclosed “so as not to jeopardize the outcome of inquiries still ongoing in Switzerland and abroad.”

The three Iraqis are accused of possessing explosives and toxic gases with intent to commit a crime, acting as if to commit a crime and other unspecified offenses including pornography and illegal migration within and to Switzerland, according to the AP.

A joint investigation team has been set up, prosecutors said, according to the AP, including the FBI and federal criminal police in Switzerland.

Authorities have thwarted suspected ISIS attacks in London and Australia, and officials believe a deadly attack that left a soldier dead in Canada earlier this month was linked to terrorism.
