Sarah Palin tells PETA to ‘chill’

Sarah Palin is telling PETA to “chill” after the animal rights group blasted the former Alaska governor for photos she posted on Facebook showing her six-year-old son, Trig, standing on the family dog.

“PETA needs to chill. At least Trig didn’t eat the dog,” she said in a Facebook post.

{mosads}The former Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential nominee said officials at the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) are “hypocrites” and took a swipe at President Obama for having eaten dog meat as a child in Indonesia.

“Did you go as crazy when your heroic Man-of-Your-Lifetime, Barack Obama, revealed he actually enjoyed eating dead dog meat?” she asked PETA in the Jan. 3 post.

“Aren’t you the same anti-beef screamers blogging hate from your comfy leather office chairs, wrapped in your fashionable leather belts above your kickin’ new leather pumps you bought because your celebrity idols (who sport fur and crocodile purses) grinned in a tabloid wearing the exact same Louboutins.”

She said the celebrities who support PETA party at sushi bars that feature “dead smelly roe,” which she described as the “throw away parts of our wild seafood” that “suckers” pay “absurdly high prices to party with.”

Palin said the dog — Jill Hadassah, a service dog adopted from the Puppy Jake Foundation — is Trig’s best buddy and is loved, spoiled and cared for better than most people.

In a statement to NBC News, Palin took a line from pop star Taylor Swift in dealing with PETA.

“Should Jill Hadassah have not enjoyed Trig’s playing with her, guess it would have reminded us another important lesson — sometimes life jumps up and bites you in the okole, but you don’t stop moving and baby you just Shake It Off.”

Responding to Palin’s Facebook post, PETA President Ingrid Newkirk said the organization believes people shouldn’t step on dogs and said the former governor knows PETA “about as well as she knows geography.”

“We’re a vegan organization, so we sit on pleather couches, wear stylish vegan kicks, and consider fish friends, not food,” she said in a prepared statement. “Also, by the way, we just sent a case of vegan caviar to Vladimir Putin— and no, you can’t see his house from yours, Ms. Palin.”

Newkirk then wished the entire Palin family a “peaceful and humane 2015.”
