Rand Paul gives first Snapchat interview
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) apparently made Snapchat history on Tuesday, giving what is believed to be the first interview with a lawmaker over the messaging service.
{mosads}In a series of short videos sent to CNN with his iPhone, Paul was asked about the drone that crashed on the White House grounds Monday, and if drones should be banned.
“Drones should only be used according to the Constitution. But if they fly over my house, they better be aware because I’ve got a shotgun,” Paul said.
Sent a picture of the White House with the caption “Do you want to live here after 2016?” Paul replied, “Maybe.” He added a shot at that “they might have to guard the fence a little bit better than they’ve been doing lately.”
Asked about potential rival Hillary Clinton’s speaking fees, which are sometimes $200,000 or more, Paul said, “Man, $200,000, that’s obscene. But I guess she can pay her chauffeur well now.”
Away from the realm of politics, Paul said, “To unwind, I like to ride my bike through the beautiful rolling hills and blue grass of Kentucky.”
Separately, in an interview with Fox News’s “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren,” Paul called President Obama “childish” for not meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he comes to Washington at the invitation of Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio).
The invitation has raised controversy as a possible snub of Obama.
“Israel’s an important ally,” Paul said. “I don’t understand why he would refuse to meet with him, other than just sort of being, like I say, petulant or childish about not being consulted.”
