Snow threat closes federal government

The threat of substantial snowfall in the Washington, D.C., area on Thursday has forced the closing of federal offices.

{mosads}The Office of Personnel Management said emergency and telework-ready employees who are required to work must follow their agency’s policies.

A winter storm warning is in effect for the Washington area. A wintry mix of precipitation is expected to switch to snow, which will be heavy at times.

As much as 6 inches of snow is expected to fall throughout the day.

Snow is expected to be heaviest late Thursday morning through the mid-afternoon.
