Obama briefed on La. movie theater shooting

President Obama has been briefed on the mass shooting at a Louisiana movie theater that left three dead Thursday night.

{mosads}White House counterterrorism adviser Lisa Monaco informed the president of the shooting while aboard Air Force One on his way to Africa, spokesman Josh Earnest said Friday.

“The president directed his team to keep him updated on the investigation and on the status of those injured in the shooting,” Earnest said.

“The thoughts and prayers of everyone at the White House, including the president and First Lady, are with the community of Lafayette, Louisiana, especially the families of those who were killed,” he added.

The shooting left three dead, including the gunman, police said. Nine were left wounded.

The incident comes days after the guilty verdict in the Aurora, Colo., movie theater massacre that left a dozen dead in 2012.
