Sanders campaign suspends Jewish outreach coordinator
Bernie Sanders’s Democratic presidential campaign suspended its Jewish outreach coordinator after reports surfaced she had posted vulgarities about Israel’s prime minister on Facebook, The New York Times reports.
{mosads}Simone Zimmerman’s suspension comes just two days after the campaign announced that she was hired.
“She has been suspended while we investigate the matter,” Sanders spokesman Michael Briggs wrote in an email to the New York Times.
A Washington Free Beacon report found a Facebook post in which Zimmerman described Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as an “arrogant, deceptive, cynical, manipulative asshole” before saying he “sanctioned the murder of over 2,000 people this summer.”
She has a previous record of criticizing Israeli settlements and its policies in the West Bank and Gaza, the Times reports, and the president of the Anti-Defamation League called for her to be fired.
