Donald Trump’s New Mexico rally was interrupted several times Tuesday night by protestors.
Reporters on the scene tweeted photos and video of blocked exits and officers on horseback trying to calm the crowd. The Albuquerque Police Department tweeted after the rally that people were throwing rocks and bottles at mounted officers.
There were tweets reporting that people had heard gunshots and reporters were apparently being kept in the building, though the police clarified that no shots had been confirmed.
Police said that despite reports on social media, no tear gas had been deployed.
The New York Times reported that Trump was interrupted several times Tuesday evening by protestors with banners reading “Trump is Fascist” and “We’ve Heard Enough.” Trump responded several times, telling one protestor to “go home to mommy” and asking of another, “How old is this kid? … Still wearing diapers.”
