The man accused of killing an anti-“Brexit” member of Parliament reportedly gave his name as “Death to traitors, freedom for Britain” in court on Saturday.

{mosads}Thomas Mair, who is charged with murder and other crimes in the Thursday killing of Labour Party member Jo Cox, refused to give his actual name or reply when asked for his address and date of birth, according to media reports.

Mair, 52, allegedly shouted “Britain first!” when he shot and stabbed Cox, 41. Mair has been linked to a U.S. white supremacist group, and it’s thought that Cox may have died at least in part for her advocacy of the U.K. remaining in the European Union in a referendum next week.

Mair was remanded in custody and will face a bail hearing on Monday.

Cox is first British politician assassinated in office in more than 20 years. The Telegraph reported Saturday that a memorial fund set up in her name has already raised more than 250,000 pounds sterling.
