Gun control group: We have a toddler problem

Brady Campaign

A leading gun control group is drawing attention to the number of Americans gunned down by toddlers in a satirical new ad.

{mosads}”It’s time we did something,” says the video released Monday from the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, claiming that American toddlers shoot someone “at least” once a week. “We need to lock them up. Not the guns — that’s just un-American. The toddlers. Round them up. Deport them. Get them out of our country. And keep them away from our guns.”

The video is tongue-in-cheek, but the Brady Campaign hopes it will draw attention to the issue and encourage people to vote for candidates who support gun control.

The group says the glut of firearms makes it far too easy for children to get their hands on deadly weapons.

Brady claims that more people each year are shot by toddlers than terrorists and calls them “one of America’s most pressing national security threats.”

“The problem is bigger than just toddlers,” Brady President Dan Gross said in a statement.

“Whether the trigger is pulled by a toddler, a convicted felon, domestic abuser, or terrorist, we have a problem in America with guns too easily falling into the wrong hands,” he added. “And that translates to hundreds of lives lost or changed forever every single day. The fact is that we can prevent so many of these tragedies just by keeping guns out of the hands of the people we all agree shouldn’t have them.”
