Top Clinton aide last year: Comey ‘a bad choice’

James Comey was a “bad choice” for FBI director, one of Hillary Clinton’s top aides said in an October 2015 email released by WikiLeaks.

{mosads}Comey, who is under fire from Democrats and some Republicans for his handling of the FBI’s investigation into the private email server Clinton used while secretary of State, took heat last year from the White House for saying the “Ferguson effect” was proving detrimental to how U.S. police go about their jobs.

“Get a big fat ‘I told you so’ on Comey being a bad choice,” says an email addressed from Clinton communications director Jennifer Palmieri to campaign chairman John Podesta. It was sent along with a news item about Comey suggesting the unrest in Ferguson, Mo., over the shooting of an unarmed black teen could be leading to increased crime elsewhere.

Comey infuriated Clinton supporters with a letter to Congress last week announcing the FBI was looking into potential new evidence related to the Democratic presidential nominee’s email setup. The letter was sent to lawmakers less than two weeks before Election Day.

Palmieri was also ready for the marriage of one Clinton’s other top aides to be over years before it ended.

The same batch from WikiLeaks contained a 2011 email from Palmieri to Podesta, sent amid the first sexting scandal of former Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.), who this year separated from longtime Clinton aide Huma Abedin.

Palmieri wanted to “bust in that house and get Huma the hell out of there,” she wrote.

Clinton campaign officials have so far refused to acknowledge the authenticity of the emails being released by the anti-secrecy group.
