Pennsylvania rep. takes side in Wawa vs. Sheetz war

Rep. Brendan Boyle (D-Pa.) took sides Tuesday in Pennsylvania’s infamous convenience store wars, announcing his preference for Wawa over Sheetz.

The declaration came shortly after he tweeted about D.C. getting a Wawa, which prompted other Keystone State officials to chime in.

“Fake news! I happen to like @Sheetz too (still have the Sheetz card on my keychain from when I was a state Rep). But I’m a @Wawa guy,” Boyle wrote on Twitter.

{mosads}Mayor John Fetterman (D) of Braddock, Pa.,, also weighed in on the age-old rivalry. Fetterman, who launched am unsuccessful bid during Pennsylvania’s 2016 Senate primary, prefers Sheetz.

“Don’t get me wrong- @Wawa is great if you closest @sheetz is 50 miles or more away,” Fetterman said.

The rivalry between Wawa and Sheetz, both of which are headquartered in Pennsylvania, has for years divided residents of the state.

Wawa announced last month that it would open its first store in Washington, D.C., a move Boyle said brings him “such happiness and joy.”
