Anti-Trump group files FOIA request in ‘Washington v. Tramp’ case
The Justice Department was ridiculed by Twitter users overnight after responding to a FOIA request from the nonpartisan anti-Trump group filed targeting the lawsuit “Washington v. Trump” with documents misspelled to read “Washington v. Tramp.”
The misspelling was pointed out by Law.com senior editor Michael Scarcella, who posted a screenshot on Twitter.

The filing was meant to target Washington v. Trump, a lawsuit filed in response to President Trump’s first travel ban, which would have ended the Syrian refugee resettlement program indefinitely, blocked travel from seven Muslim-majority countries and suspended the U.S. refugee program for 120 days. In early February, a federal judge in Seattle ruled against the White House in Washington v. Trump, temporarily suspending the order.
{mosads}Days later, the 9th Circuit Court rebuked the Trump administration again when it rejected the White House’s request to reinstate Trump’s travel ban.
In the court documents filed last night, the court says American Oversight’s request for information about “Washington v. Tramp” “speaks for itself.”
American Oversight describes itself as a “nonpartisan oversight group” dedicated to “holding the Trump administration accountable.”
“We’re holding the Trump administration accountable—because Congress won’t,” the organization says on its website.
