House panel threatens to subpoena Roger Stone over Assange contact

The House Intelligence Committee is warning Trump associate Roger Stone: turn over your contacts to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange or be subpoenaed. 

CNN reported Thursday that a subpoena of Stone by the committee could come on Friday.

Stone, a former campaign adviser to President Trump, testified before the committee last month in a three-hour session, during which he refused to provide lawmakers on the committee with the name of his shared contact with Assange. 

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif), the ranking member on the committee, confirmed to CNN that the committee had agreed to subpoena Stone if he does not willingly come forward with the information before Friday. {mosads}

Republican Rep. Mike Conaway of Texas, who is leading the investigation, also confirmed that the committee would wait until Friday to issue the order. “We’ll give it until tomorrow,” he told CNN. “We’ll take the next steps. Hope we don’t have to.”

Democrats have been keen to press Stone on his communications with Assange and the Russian online persona Guccifer 2.0, as well as a tweet that suggested he had advance knowledge of the hack of 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, John Podesta.

Stone told House Intelligence Committee lawmakers during his testimony last month that he has been falsely accused of colluding with Russia.
