Former Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) praised President Trump as a “man of faith,” Saturday while speaking at the conservative Values Voter Summit.

Bachmann, who served alongside Vice President Pence in the House, used Pence’s wording to express her belief of Trump’s faith.

“We were in a meeting with the vice president and the president, about 25 of us. I know the vice president. I served with him in Congress, and he is a vocal, committed believer of Jesus Christ himself. And he said, ‘I want all of you to know that the president is a committed believer. He is a man of faith,’ ” Bachmann said, quoting Pence.

Bachmann went on to say that Trump is observant of God’s authority over his life and presidency, which “should give us a lot of hope,” she said, arguing that faith “helps regulate our behavior.” {mosads}

Trump, who enjoyed broad support from evangelical Christians in the 2016 election, reportedly said ‘sure’ when faith leaders asked to pray for Trump in the Oval Office, Bachmann recounted. “We put our hands around him respectfully and we prayed for him.”

Trump himself spoke at the Values Voter Conference on Friday, saying: “We are stopping cold the attacks on Judeo-Christian values,” to applause from the conservative crowd.

Bachmann has praised Trump and his faith in the past. She called Trump’s election victory “proof positive of what the Lord did.”
