James Corden apologizes for making Harvey Weinstein jokes

Late-night comedian James Corden is apologizing for making jokes about film producer Harvey Weinstein at a gala over the weekend.

“To be clear, sexual assault is no laughing matter. I was not trying to make light of Harvey’s inexcusable behavior, (1/2)” Corden wrote on Twitter on Sunday.

{mosads}“But to shame him, the abuser, not his victims. I am truly sorry for anyone offended, that was never my intention. (2/2).”

Corden made the jokes while hosting the amfAR gala Friday night in Los Angeles, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Right here in L.A., it’s so beautiful Harvey Weinstein has already asked tonight up to his hotel to give him a massage,” Corden said, the news outlet reported.

Weinstein has denied accusations of non-consensual sex that came to light in reporting last week by The New Yorker magazine.

The New York Times also published two reports about sexual harassment allegations levied against Weinstein from women over the years.
