Florida Dem returning to DC after threats tied to Trump feud

Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.) will return to Congress next week after receiving threats because of her feud with President Trump, which drew national attention earlier this month.

The Washington Examiner reported Saturday that a spokesperson for Wilson said she spent the week in her home district in Flordia, prompting her to miss several House votes.

Wilson’s spokeswoman, Joyce Jones, said it was because the Florida Democrat had received a number of serious threats to her safety because of her comments about Trump. She added that Wilson was assigned a security detail.

“This is a serious matter, and that is the only reason she would ever miss votes,” Jones said last week.

Wilson last week said she overheard Trump’s conversation with the widow of a fallen U.S. soldier. She claimed Trump told the widow of Sgt. La David Johnson that her husband knew what he signed up for. {mosads}

Trump disputed Wilson’s account of the call and continued to defend his behavior when speaking with Johnson’s widow.

Earlier this week, Myeshia Johnson said the president did not remember her husband’s name during the call.

On Wednesday, Trump claimed he has “one of the greatest memories of all time.”

“I was extremely nice to her. I’ve never seen her, I’ve never met her, but she sounds like a lovely lady. I was extremely courteous, as I was to everyone else,” Trump said, referring to the Gold Star widow.
